The FOIL Series centers on making visual work from recycled material used for duct work insulation. The metallic foil was used by us through an entirely digital process: the actual, physical material was not part of the finished work.

This is unlike the process we used in the earlier, related PAPER SCULPTURE Series. That material was given to us directly from manufacturers who would otherwise have discarded it. Also, in that instance, the work resulted in a physical sculpture made of various material, not in a digital format, as is the case with the FOIL Series. This work can be viewed on a screen, or can be printed on reflective paper.
