CORRIDOR

2026

It was the day of a solar flare. The light outside was searing and inescapable.

Indoors, in the dim light of an office building hallway, there was relief until we reached the section that has windows. There, at high noon, we found tempered light, strips and dots reflected at angles on the opposite wall. The source of these patterns was not immediately clear, and it caused us to stop everything we were meant to be doing, and take photographs. We then worked on the pictures when we returned to the studio, turning and combining elements until we came to understand the nature of what we had seen: we changed the structure of the pictures to be closer to the aura of fluttering and repeated shapes there, in that ordinary hallway; that is, it was "ordinary" until that particular day of the penetrating and oppressive solar flare.
